Storing your roof tent is very important for the life of the product. And of course it is nice to enjoy that beautiful rooftop tent for a long time!
The answer is actually quite simple. The space you need is the size of the roof tent itself. Of course, the roof tent takes up more space flat than upright.
We recommend storing your hardshell roof tent flat. If this is not possible, we recommend that you store the hardshell tent straight up against a wall on the short or long side. It is important, however, to place a foam sheet or block of foam underneath and, of course, to put protection between the wall and the hardshell to prevent scratches. The sides of a hardshell are usually not straight but rounded. Make sure that there are fixing points on the wall so that you can secure the roof tent to the wall with a strap.
We recommend storing your softshell roof tent on the hinge side of the tent so it is stable. If you want to save space, you can also put it on the short side. If you put it on the short side, it is important to put a foam plate or a foam block underneath. We advise to put the softshell roof tent on the side that is normally on the car against the wall.
We advise to always provide for fixing points on the wall so you can fix the roof tent to the wall with a strap.
The best place to put a rooftop tent is in a dry area, where there are not too many temperature fluctuations and that no mice or other vermin can get in. If you do have a room where the temperature varies and/or it is humid. Then we advise you to remove the mattress from the tent and store it in a dry place in your house. In addition, you can put a bag of silica gel in the tent. You can buy the bags of silica gel yourself or save them up because many packages contain such bags and you can therefore reuse them in the tent.
